My book and my music is about my journey through life. I made more mistakes than I can count, was taken advantage of and abused, yet I not only survived, but I lead a happy and fulfilled life. My nightmares are calmed and my scars are healed by the love and grace of God. Have you been thrown away? undervalued? abandoned? Join me as we find our true identity in Jesus Christ!
I am a worship leader at a small community church and a retired school teacher. However I have also worked as a professional musician, a dancer, a cook, a waitress, a house cleaner, a maid, and was forced into being a prostitute. I have been raped, beaten, robbed, homeless, abandoned, and left for dead and yet I survived and now live a happy life, grateful for my salvation and centered in my relationship with God.
I lived much of my life feeling that I was unwanted and thrown away by my family and deserted by those who were supposed to care for me. I felt there was no place for me and I was ignored by society. Some of my experiences are a little extreme, but many of them I share with a large segment of the population. As I examined my life experience, I realized that I am not unique. Our society can be cruel and heartless, you don’t have to be abused in order to be 'thrown-away', we live in a society that ignores those people that don’t quite fit. We give lip service to honoring diversity, but the reality is that people are quite picky about who they care about and many of us simply do not make the grade. If you feel that you don’t fit, if you feel that you are not cared for, or are recovering from a ‘thrown-away’ past, I am here to tell you that you have value that is greater than you can imagine!
