Pastor Scot and Gwen Carter
Annie survived being trafficked at 17, pulling herself out of poverty and life on the street by cleaning houses and playing music in bars only to be frustrated by the music industry. She then dedicated herself to helping kids by becoming a teacher and slowly found hope and healing from her abusive past. She decided to stop hiding her past after seeing how many youngsters are being trafficked today, in the hope that her story will help to highlight the horrors of human trafficking as well as give hope to those survivors attempting to reclaim the lives they were meant to live.
Annie has written a book about her experiences and has recorded her feelings in music. She speaks publicly about trafficking as well as ways to protect kids from predators to groups and churches. Annie also serves on the board of Pillars of Hope rescue for local trafficking victims.
Annie's music was inspired by the story she tells in her book
A powerful and often often humorous look at the story of a woman's survival and success after being trafficked, brainwashed and abused. Annie takes us with her as she struggles with her damaged self esteem and moves from living on the street and cleaning houses to being a professional musician, teacher, author and worship minister.
"This book is well written and worth reading, a fast read. It's hard to put down when started"
Dave Ewing
"Thrown-Away Found is a moving personal memoir that touches on human trafficking, initiation into a cult, sexual abuse, and the author’s eventual salvation in Christ."
The way the Annie continuously ties her experiences back to the grace of God (and how this message of salvation and redemption is bolstered by the inclusion of Scriptures at the head of each chapter) make this a solid and impactful testimonial that will move and inspire its readers.
Annie has been writing, performing and recording music for decades. Check out her music!
